Join us today for a message from Daniel Vander Reest Preacher: Daniel Vander Reest Title: Confronting Disappointment Bible verse: Matt 20: 1-16 (Parable of the vineyard); Psalm 73:1-28 The parable was about a master who hired workers for his vineyard at different time of the day. At the end of the day, he paid them all one denarii as promised. However, the workers who started earlier were angry about being paid the same amount as those who started later and worked less. Disappointment comes in various forms, but some hit deep, especially the ones that felt justified. ~Sources of disappointment 1) Unmet expectation 2) Injustice 3) Personal loss Psalm 73 tells us the story of Asaph, a worship leader appointed by King David who experienced a justified disappointment. God takes him through a journey to address his disappointment. ~Steps to address disappointment 1) Make your disappointment known to God ( Psalm 73: 16-22) 2) Surrender your expectation to God ( Psalm 73: 23-28) 3) Leave room for God to bring new revelation 4) Put on the lens of eternity 5) Being content by trusting God and never in a result of this physical life. PRAYER: Holy spirit, speak to me, bring about a revelation, and a perspective shift in my heart. Awaken my desire to be close to you, rest in you, and find true contentment. Let me desire to be close to you for the rest of my life. Amen
